Getting started with DriftID takes four steps: bridge ETH to Base, mint your Drift ID, report a real-world action to grow your stats, and enter the Arena to compete. This page walks you through each step so you can go from zero to your first duel as quickly as possible.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

Step 1: Bridge to Base

DriftID runs entirely on Base mainnet. If you already have ETH on Base, skip to Step 2.

Base Bridge

Transfer ETH from Ethereum mainnet to Base in a few minutes using the official Base bridge.
Alternatively, if you use Coinbase, you can withdraw ETH directly to your wallet on the Base network without going through the bridge.
You need enough Base ETH to cover the 0.001 ETH minting fee, Oracle report fees ($0.50 equivalent each), and a minimum 0.01 ETH Arena stake. Keep a small buffer for gas.

Step 2: Mint your Drift ID

Your Drift ID is a soulbound NFT — permanently bound to your wallet address. Minting it is a one-time action that initializes your on-chain identity.
1

Connect your wallet

Visit driftidentity.xyz and connect your wallet. Switch to the Base network when prompted.
2

Click 'Mint Drift ID'

Pay the one-time minting fee of approximately 0.001 ETH to deploy your soulbound identity on-chain.
3

Meet your baseline persona

Your Drift ID is now live. You start with 10 points in every attribute: Focus, Discipline, Social, and Risk. From here, all growth comes from your own effort.

Step 3: Report your first real-world action

Reporting is how you grow your stats. Each report describes something you did in the real world — studying, training, shipping code, mentoring someone — and submits it to the Oracle for verification.
1

Describe what you did

In the app, write a description of your real-world accomplishment. Be specific: the Oracle evaluates quality, not just quantity.
2

Select a target stat

Choose which attribute you want to grow: Focus, Discipline, Social, or Risk.
3

Submit for judgment

Pay the Oracle fee (approximately $0.50 equivalent in ETH) and submit. The Oracle verifies your report and signs a stat update. You can gain +1 to +5 points on your chosen stat.
You can only submit one report every 24 hours. Choose your accomplishment carefully — the quality of your description influences how many points you earn.

Step 4: Enter the Arena

The Arena is where Drifters stake ETH and put their stats to the test. Your combined Focus, Discipline, and Risk scores determine your win probability against any given opponent.
1

Pick a target

Enter a rival’s wallet address manually, or click Pick Random to be matched with a random Drifter.
2

Review the scouting report

Before committing, check your opponent’s stats and your estimated win probability. Make sure the matchup makes sense.
3

Stake and initiate

Stake a minimum of 0.01 ETH to send the challenge. Your opponent has 24 hours to accept and match your stake. If they don’t accept in time, your stake is returned.

Duel outcomes

When a duel resolves, the results are written permanently to both Drift IDs:
ResultWinnerLoser
Stats+1 to all attributes-1 Risk
ETHClaims 97.5% of the total potNothing
The 2.5% protocol fee funds ongoing Oracle operations and protocol development.
